Grow Blue!

As University of Michigan鈥檚 undergraduate enrollment grows, so does its need for additional housing. We鈥檙e proud to partner with the university to build a five-building community at the site of the former Elbel Field on its central campus. This is Christman’s largest project to date by total dollar value through a combined amount of the housing construction and Elbel Field work at $553 million.

This project mobilized in August of 2023, and it provides 2,300 beds and includes a 900-seat, state-of-the-art dining facility. All five buildings are scheduled to be turned over by Summer 2026. 听

What makes this project truly special is its commitment to sustainability, aligned with the university’s carbon neutrality goals. It includes:听
鈥 Geothermal heating/cooling for efficiency听
鈥 Photovoltaic panels for clean energy听
鈥 Green roofs for beauty and eco-friendliness听
鈥 An all-electric design听
鈥 LEED Platinum Certification for top-tier environmental standards听

This project isn’t just about construction; it’s about building a brighter, more sustainable future for the University of Michigan and its students.
